10-Day Coastal & Sahara Adventure: The Complete Morocco Itinerary from Atlantic Shores to Golden Dunes
Combine Marrakech's medinas, Essaouira's ramparts, Agadir's surf beaches, and a Sahara camel trek into one unforgettable 10-day journey

Morocco is a country of striking contrasts, and no trip captures that better than the 10-Day Coastal & Sahara Adventure. In a single itinerary, you'll wander the bustling souks of Marrakech, breathe in the salty air of the Atlantic coast, ride camels across towering Sahara dunes, and sleep beneath one of the clearest night skies on Earth. It's the ultimate way to experience Morocco's full range of landscapes, culture, and cuisine without sacrificing comfort or flexibility.

Why Combine the Coast and the Sahara?
Most Morocco itineraries force a choice: relax by the ocean, or venture into the desert. The 10-Day Coastal & Sahara Adventure refuses to choose.
This route strings together Morocco's most iconic regions — the Atlantic coastline, the High Atlas Mountains, and the Sahara Desert — into one continuous private journey. You'll trade sea breezes for desert winds, medina alleyways for open dunes, and fresh seafood for slow-cooked tagines, all while staying in comfortable, carefully selected accommodations along the way. It's an ideal trip for travelers who want to see the "real" Morocco in depth, rather than rushing through a single city.

Day-1: Land in Marrakech and settle into your riad or hotel. Spend your first evening easing into Moroccan life with a walk through Jemaa el-Fna Square, where storytellers, musicians, and food stalls create one of the most atmospheric welcomes in North Africa.

Day 2: Marrakech City Discovery
Spend a full day exploring Marrakech's highlights: the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the vibrant Jardin Majorelle. In the afternoon, dive into the medina's souks to browse spices, leather goods, and handwoven textiles with your guide.

Day 3: Marrakech to Essaouira
Head west toward the Atlantic coast, stopping en route at a traditional women's argan oil cooperative to see how this famous Moroccan oil is produced. Arrive in Essaouira by early afternoon and settle into your coastal accommodation.

Day 4: Essaouira's Medina and Ramparts
Spend the day exploring Essaouira's UNESCO-listed medina, with its whitewashed buildings, artisan workshops, and relaxed cafés. Walk along the historic Skala de la Ville ramparts, where centuries-old cannons still face the Atlantic, before winding down at the colorful fishing harbor.

Day 5: Essaouira to Agadir & Taghazout
Continue south along the coast to Agadir, stopping in the surf village of Taghazout along the way. This laid-back stretch of coastline is known for its consistent Atlantic swells, whitewashed cafés, and relaxed surf culture.

Day 6: Agadir Beach Day
Enjoy a full free day on Agadir's long sandy beach. Swim, try a surf lesson, or simply relax by the Atlantic before heading inland the next morning. This is the ideal midpoint to recharge before the journey into the mountains and desert.

Day 7: Agadir to Aït Benhaddou via the Anti-Atlas
Leave the coast behind and drive inland through the Anti-Atlas Mountains toward Ouarzazate, "the door of the desert." Stop at the legendary Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah made of mud-brick architecture that has featured in numerous international films.

Day 8: Dades Valley to Merzouga
Continue east through the dramatic Dades and Todra Gorges, where towering rock walls frame narrow desert roads. By late afternoon, arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara, where the Erg Chebbi dunes rise dramatically from the flat desert floor.

Day 9: Camel Trek and Sahara Desert Camp
As the sun begins to set, climb aboard a camel and ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi to your desert camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner and Berber music around the campfire before sleeping beneath one of the clearest, most star-filled skies in the world.

Day 10: Sunrise in the Sahara & Departure
Wake early to watch the sunrise paint the dunes in shades of gold and pink, one of the most memorable moments of the entire trip. After breakfast, transfer back to Marrakech for your onward journey home, with plenty of stories — and sand — to bring with you.
